Beauty Treatments To Try In the Winter

The frigidness of winter is upon us and this is the time to treat yourself to some of the hottest cosmetic and beauty treatments. Here’s a highlight of the top 4 beauty treatments to get done in the winter to help you feel and look your very best.

1. Laser Treatments
For patients still self-conscious about any pigmentation or discoloration issues brought on by the summer sun, a laser treatment is a quick and easy way to restore your skin to its natural even tone. In the summer we are exposed to the sun regardless of the copious amounts of sunscreen we lather on and wintertime is the perfect time to reverse sun damage.

2. Laser Hair Removal
The winter is actually the perfect season to get all your sessions of hair removal in! The general rule of thumb when undergoing laser hair removal is to avoid the sun, making winter the best time for this wonderful treatment. Laser hair removal works best on dark hair and pale skin, so what better time to honor your pasty complexion than winter, so that you can enter the summer feeling sexy and smooth.

3. Sclerotherapy
If you are suffering from unsightly spider veins, sclerotherapy is an excellent procedure to zap them away. However, sclerotherapy can cause significant bruising which can be easily hidden under your winter wardrobe.

4. Facial Treatments
Facials are a relaxing opportunity to get out of the harsh winter weather and get pampered. Facials can be customized to combat the effects of winter wind, cold or snow that may have your skin dry, red or irritated. Microneedling, hydrafacial & microdermabrasion are also particularly effective in the winter months.

5. Kybella
Kybella® is a formulation of a naturally occurring substance (deoxycholic acid) that targets and destroys fat cells in the area where it’s injected. After Kybella injections there will be swelling and possible bruising, making the winter wardrobe ideal for covering these areas of treatment. Multiple sessions are required so no better time to start than the winter months!

A common question for many is how long to wait after your injectable treatment before resuming your anti-aging care plan. Each provider may have a different timeline for post injection treatments or procedures to resume in your regimen. We advise for patients to wait the following periods of time AFTER getting injection treatments before having these different skin treatments performed:

  • Skincare - wait 12 hours
  • Kybella- wait 2 weeks
  • Microblading – wait 2 weeks
  • Facials – wait 2 weeks
  • Hydrafacial- wait 2 weeks
  • Enzyme Peels – wait 2 weeks
  • Laser Genesis – wait 2 weeks
  • Glycolic or AHA peels – wait 2 weeks
  • Deep Chemical Peels- wait 4 weeks
  • Facial waxing – wait 2-4 weeks, varies
  • Laser Hair Removal for face – wait 2-4 weeks, varies
  • Fraxel Laser- wait 4 weeks
  • Microneedling- wait 4 weeks

Certain treatments may be combined in one session. Consult with your provider for recommendations.

These days, the key to maintaining a youthful face is to combine different non-surgical cosmetic procedures and to be proactive with your skin care regimen at home. Prevention is key. It’s never too early to make an appointment for a consultation and see how to start your anti-aging and prevention regimen today!
