Thoroughly Cleanse, Day & Night
Leaving makeup on your skin, or oil and dirt which builds up during the day, doesn’t allow your skin to breathe at night and can ruin a clear complexion. If you have a day when you wear heavier make up or feel extra oily, double cleansing is a great way to ensure your skin is thoroughly clean. Cleansing removes all makeup, loosens impurities and circulates blood flow. The Gold Standard is Retinol Retinol is the gold standard of any anti-aging regimen for youthful looking skin and to stimulate collagen production. You should use retinol at least twice a week, up to every other night if your skin can tolerate it. It decreases fine lines and wrinkles, boosts collagen production, decrease hyper-pigmentation, improves texture and tone and helps give the skin a youthful glow. Use Vitamin C Daily A staple in every great skin-care regimen is Vitamin C, an antioxidant that helps protect skin cells from damaging free radicals due to UV exposure, which can lead to premature skin aging and hyperpigmentation. Vitamin C in your anti-aging regimen is a non-negotiable and those with flawless skin never skip it! The best type of Vitamin C to add in your regimen is a serum, they tend to be the most potent form. Moisturize Skin will become more plump and youthful if it is properly hydrated. Moisturizing in the morning and night is an important step in any skincare regime. A lighter moisturizer is great for the day time and if your skin is on the dry side, a heavier moisturizer can be applied at night time. Skin repairs itself while we sleep, so let it happen as naturally as possible. If you’re more oily keep your moisturizer light to prevent breakouts. Never Skip Sunscreen The sun is the number one cause of advanced skin aging. Every morning sunscreen should be applied. The beauty is many anti-aging moisturizers or makeup include SPF nowadays, making it a simple step to keep our skin protected from the UV rays. No point in spending all the money on skincare and not protecting your investment. Your skin will thank you! Eat for Glowing Skin Incorporating a healthy diet shows on your skin. Drinking water, eating a lean protein diet, fiber, and anti-inflammatory foods that are high in antioxidants, such as blueberries and green leafy vegetables will help to keep the skin clear and glowing. Stay Hydrated It’s really important to hydrate by drinking plenty of water during the day and before bed for healthy, glowing skin. Our bodies are 70% water and the skin is over 60% water. We need to keep hydrated to survive, and it only makes sense that our skin needs water too! So drink up to stay hydrated in the sun and heat. You’ll be amazed by the skin improvements good old H2O can provide. Water slows the aging process, flushes out impurities and toxins, fights oil and acne, and plumps skin cells, which reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Topically we can apply products that contain hyaluronic acid, which carries a 1,000 times its weight in water. Facial Massage When applying products give yourself a quick facial massage. This increases blood flow, soothes nerve endings, helps to relax muscles, tones, contours and reduces puffiness. It’s also a great way to relax and take a few deep breaths!

Choosing the right injector with a knowledge of anatomy and an artistic eye is imperative to ensure that you stay safe while avoiding unnecessary pain and frustration. Selecting a provider is the most important decision you will make when it comes to your injectable treatments.
With the cosmetic injection market rapidly growing, it can be difficult to know which aesthetic medical office or provider to choose. Yet, picking the wrong one can be hazardous and lead to complications. With this in mind, here are 4 tips to help you select the right injector: Personal Referrals Personal recommendations are always a great source! If you have a friend or family member that’s been happy with their treatments and their cosmetic injector, whether a doctor or nurse , it’s reasonable to assume that you’ll also have a great outcome. If you know people that regularly use a cosmetic injector, start the process by simply asking about their experience and gathering information. This can be a reliable way to find a quality injector. Don’t Select an Injector Based on Price If it seems too good to be true then it probably is! Neuromodulators, such as Botox, and dermal filler injections vary by price according to injector experience, skillset, location and training. If injectables are priced too low, then you risk compromising the quality of your injections and results. While you want to ensure that you’re being treated fairly, you don’t want to select an injector simply based on price. Cheaper isn’t better! There is likely a reason for below market pricing – lower quality, less experience, inadequate training or knowledge of anatomy. Don’t price shop your face as there are very serious side effects and complications with fillers and neuromodulators that can happen. Make sure to have a “buyer beware” mindset and research the competitive market before selecting a provider. Social Media With injections becoming less taboo everyday and social media becoming more popular, this can be a great tool and resource to choose an injector. An online portfolio of before and afters will show you the injectors work and you can see if their artistic eye and skillet matches your vision. It’s important to be on the same page with your injector as results will vary from provider to provider. Injections and approach are not a one size fits all when it comes to aesthetics. Ask Questions If you are seeing a provider for the first time, don’t be afraid to ask a few questions about their experience and training. These types of questions are necessary and should be part of the process when choosing your injector. After all, you are entrusting this person with your face. To gain more information about their experience and knowledge, you may want to ask where they were trained, how many years they have been injecting, and how often they attend trainings and continuing education courses. Furthermore, asking for before and after pictures can add credibility and give you a visual into their aesthetic eye. The bottom line is with the right provider, injectable treatments have very few complications and almost immediate, positive results. With the wrong provider, these treatments can be unsafe with negative results. Do your research! Finding a provider you can develop a long term injection relationship with is key. Whether you want to smooth wrinkles, prevent wrinkles from becoming deep or just reverse signs of aging, there are multiple neuromodulator injections to consider. But what are the differences? One of the most popular injectable treatments available is Botox.
If you keep up with the latest and greatest in the cosmetic industry, then you may have heard the word Dysport or Newtox (Jeuveau) being used. So what is the difference between Botox versus Jeuveau and Dysport? What is Jeuveau? The official name for Newtox is Jeuveau. You may have received this treatment from your cosmetic provider already as “Jeuveau” and didn’t quite connect it to the “Newtox” term that everyone is tweeting about. Just like Botox, Jeuveau is a neurotoxin that is very similar in its effectiveness. Jeuveau by Evolus is now FDA approved for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe glabellar lines (between the eyebrows) in adults. Jeuveau works by relaxing the muscles that create wrinkles and lasts for approximately 3-4 months. What is Dysport? Dysport (abobotulinumtoxin A) is manufactured by Galderma, which also produces well-known dermal fillers including Restylane and Sculptra. This specific brand was approved by the FDA in 2009. Dysport is an injection used to reduce moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults. Dysport temporarily relaxes the muscles that create wrinkles. By minimizing the depth of the wrinkles, the face looks more youthful and refreshed in appearance. Dysport tends to disperse more, which results in a larger area of effect. Also, Dysport may activate a day quicker than Botox. What is Botox? Botox (onabotulinumtoxin A) is manufactured by Allergan, who also produces popular cosmetic products such as Juvederm, Voluma, Kybella and Latisse. It was first FDA approved for medical use in 1989. Botox was initially used for medical conditions around the eyes. While treating these patients, the cosmetic benefits were discovered. Botox is the first and only treatment that is FDA-approved to reduce moderate to severe frown lines, crow's feet and forehead wrinkles. A few medical uses for Botox include depression, strabismus, eyelid muscle spasms, chronic migraine, overactive bladder, excessive underarm sweating and sweaty palms. Botox is quickly becoming the drug that treats everything! Similarities of Jeuveau, Dysport and Botox Jeuveau, Dysport and Botox are comparable products in reference to results in longevity, potency, onset, and frequency of injections. The industry gold standard for treating wrinkles and fine lines has long been held by Botox. Patients and providers have come to know Jeuveau and Dysport because it provides similar gold standard results. Neuromodulators are administered through a series of injections that should only be performed by a licensed Nurse or Physician. Your provider injects a small amount to relax the muscles in that targeted area. The restricted muscle movement can help reduce and in some cases reverse fine lines and wrinkles. Aging makes us all susceptible to deep wrinkles, which can cause a person to appear older than they might be. Injectable procedures offer the ability to help decrease signs of aging, without the need to undergo invasive surgery and with significantly less, to no downtime. By minimizing the depth of the wrinkles, the face looks more youthful, refreshed and rejuvenated. Which Product is Right for Me? There really is no right or wrong choice. However, what works for your friend may not give you the same results. The best way to find out which product will create optimal results is to discuss neuromodulators with your provider and determine the best treatment option for you. Your results may vary with different providers. So find a trusted provider and develop a long term injection relationship. As far as cost goes, Botox, Dysport and Jeuveau are usually priced comparably, since the results are equal. Therefore, there is no difference when it comes to choosing one or the other based on price. Summertime is the perfect time to relax, whether it be by the pool, at the beach, or in your backyard. The summer sun will be ready to leave you sun-kissed along with promoting Vitamin D production! With that in mind, it’s very important to care for your skin properly during the summer heat. Below are six ways to take care of your skin for anti-aging and prevention. Your skin will thank you later!
1. SUNSCREEN & HAT When it comes to summer skin care essentials, sunscreen is a must. Sunscreens help prevent sunburn and decrease the risk of skin cancer and early skin aging caused by the sun, when used with other sun protection measures like a hat. Broad spectrum sunscreen with UVA/UVB sun protection is ideal. It is simple to apply, and should be reapplied every few hours when directly in the sun. Choose a sunscreen with an SPF (sun protection factor) of at least 30 or higher if you’re spending more than a few hours outdoors. There are two types of sunscreens: physical and chemical. Physical sunscreens sit on top of the skin, whereas chemical sunscreens are absorbed into the skin. Physical sunscreens, such as those containing zinc oxide, are the best protection for your skin. Mineral based tinted sunscreens are phenomenal because they serve as a foundation and leave you with a flawless look! 2. ANTIOXIDANTS Antioxidants help to protect the skin and reverse damage caused by the sun. Vitamin C and additional antioxidant ingredients are designed to provide a new level of comprehensive and dynamic defense against free radicals. Antioxidant serums/lotions enhance vitality and improve skin tone and luminosity. Certain antioxidants help to reduce the appearance of skin redness, which can be caused by the sun. 3. MOISTURIZER WITH TINTED SPF Applying a moisturizer with a mineral tinted SPF can be a great option! It can be difficult to wear both makeup and sunscreen together. If your skin feels dry then a moisturizing cream will hydrate your skin and make it very smooth, and boost collagen, all while adding an SPF and flawless “make-up look” for protection! This way, you can lay out at the pool confidently, knowing you’re protected and looking awesome as well. Of course, it’s important to moisturize regularly, but especially when you’ve been hanging out in the sun all day. 4. WATER Our bodies are 70% water and the skin is over 60% water. 5. VITAMINS & DIET Taking your daily vitamins is extremely important for your skin’s health. While the summer sun will help promote Vitamin D production, a healthy diet will help promote naturally radiant skin. Incorporating healthy foods into your diet can help boost collagen, fight wrinkles, and give you a healthier glow. 6. EXFOLIATE YOUR FACE It’s important to exfoliate routinely, but especially during the summertime to rid dead skin cells and dirt that may accumulate during a beach or pool day. Exfoliating cleans the pores and produces a healthy and fresh appearance. Facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and exfoliating scrubs are fantastic! These treatments will leave you feeling fresh-faced after a fun filled day in the sun! The jawline and cheek vectors are the most defining features of the human face. They help to frame the other facial features and are a big indicator of age, both real and assumed. The jawline definition is important in both men and women to convey a youthful face. In men a strong, angular jawline signifies virility and strength.
In a female femininity and refinement. Yet, the jawline is often not as popular in comparison to other treatments. Jawlines should not be overlooked during full face analysis, as the results can do wonders for face rejuvenation. Why are Jawlines important? Research shows that men with higher levels of testosterone tend to have more masculine facial features. This can include a strong, angular jawline. Men with masculine features can find it easier to get ahead in both their personal and professional lives. A strong jawline in men is often associated with power, dominance, and confidence. However, not all men are born with strong jawlines so rest assured you can achieve this with a series of dermal filler treatments. Today there are numerous non-invasive treatment options designed to transform the size and shape of the jaw. In addition to jawline fillers, chin fillers and Botox can be injected to produce the desired results. Chin Fillers The chin is part of the jawline and one of the defining features that gives shape to the face and neck. With age and weight gain, the chin often loses volume and projection giving it a weaker appearance. Chin fillers can restore volume, strength and balance in the lower face, therefore creating a more youthful look. Chin and jawline fillers can make a visible improvement including increased definition and a more manly profile. Botox for the Jawline Botox is actually a very powerful treatment for the jawline and lower face. Although a strong jawline is masculine, a very wide jaw can make the face appear too heavy. Botox can be used to slim the jawline by injecting into the masseter muscle, this gives a more balanced look without compromising manly features. If you desire a more defined look, jawline and chin fillers plus Botox are an effective way to transform the face without undergoing surgery. Are you looking for a smooth, fresh new look without surgery or even injectables? Well a chemical peel is just the thing your face needs! In fact, we recommend a mild face peel once every 4-6 weeks for consistent results.
There are so many benefits to this treatment, and it’s customizable to your specific needs and concerns. A light peel is perfect for anyone to a deep peel if you're looking for more intense results. What is a Chemical Peel? Chemical Peels help to improve damage caused by the sun and elements that contribute to wrinkles, age spots, blemishes and premature aging over time. A chemical peel involves a naturally derived acid solution being brushed onto your face. This solution causes the outer layer of your skin to peel or flake off, revealing younger, more refreshed skin underneath. How much peeling depends on the intensity of the peel you and your provider choose. What are the benefits of a Chemical Peel? Chemical peel treatments, such as salicylic or glycolic peels, have rejuvenating effects on skin. They help to increase cellular turnover, allowing younger and fresher skin to be revealed. Peels can also treat concerns such as hyperpigmentation, acne and superficial scarring, as well as improve the appearance of fine lines and texture. There are many different peel options according to patient concerns and skin types. Your skin’s tone will become more even, and your skin will feel baby-soft. How often should you get a Chemical Peel? The frequency of chemical peels depends on how strong the treatment is, as well as what imperfections you’re looking to correct. With mild peels, once a month is safe and ideal for the average skin type. Skin cells are renewed about every 28 days, so results last about that long. For medium to deep peels, 2 to 4 times per year is advised. Peeling usually begins on day 3 and can last for 5-7 days total. There is little to no discomfort during the treatment. Vitamin A might be less talked about than Vitamin C and D, but this vitamin is essential for your skin health. Vitamin A is beneficial for eyesight, the immune system and contributes to bone health. It helps prevent night blindness (difficulty seeing well in low light), and slows age-related sight decline.
Vitamin A sources include meat and eggs, and it occurs in the form of carotenoids in many vegetables such as carrots. It’s also a common additive in grain products like cereal and in dairy products. Vitamin A is fat-soluble and better absorbed when you eat it with fat like butter or salad dressing. But diet isn’t the only way to get your Vitamin A. Skin is a retinoid-responsive tissue and when applied topically, Vitamin A has exceptional benefits for the aging skin. Vitamin A For Skin Health Vitamin A is imperative when it comes to the skin, and is one of the best vitamins for skin health. The skin easily absorbs vitamin A, making it ideal for topical application. It helps prevent and treat acne. Retinol is actually a form of vitamin A, and is used in many skincare products. These are often available over the counter or in prescription form. Retinol is one of the biggest anti-agers and should be incorporated into every skincare regimen. It increases cell turnover, which helps prevent dryness, and stimulates collagen production for youthful looking skin. Vitamin A is beneficial for eyesight, the immune system and contributes to bone health. Adequate levels of Vitamin A are necessary for optimum health. Topical retinol or retinoids are key for anti-aging, stimulating new collagen and maintaining a youthful glow! Your skin will thank you later! Understanding the male face takes a unique approach, as male and female facial anatomy differ. Cosmetic treatments are now very sophisticated and more inclusive for men and women, with the social stigma decreasing.
Botox treatments are on the rise among men, one motivator being to stay competitive in today’s job market. It’s important for us all to look our best and perform at our highest capabilities everyday. Men seek to look rested and refreshed with results that are subtle and undetectable. Did you know that men are now 19% of the Botox market? This statistic continues to rise yearly, as Botox becomes more popular among men. Neuromodulators like Botox®, Dysport®, Jeuveau®, and Xeomin® are the most common cosmetic procedure for men. These treatments help to smooth wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes, making them an easy way for men to combat visible signs of aging. Dermal Fillers like Voluma®, Restylane®, and Juvederm® are more common among men than surgical procedures, that could address the same issues. For many men, a sharp chin and strong jawline are signs of masculinity and youth. The anti-aging approach and techniques utilized in a male face, are far different than a female face, as men are not always looking for the same results as women. Men are usually looking to smooth very deep wrinkles, but not completely erase lines altogether. Facial rejuvenation is not a one size fits all, and men want their results to look masculine and blend with their existing features. For best Botox results, look for a provider with considerable knowledge of facial anatomy and experience in male aesthetic procedures. Corina has extensive knowledge in treating the male face. Customizing and tailoring your specific goals is her specialty! Vitamin B12, also known as cobalamin, is an essential water-soluble vitamin that you must obtain through diet or supplements. It’s found naturally in animal products and has many roles in your body. It supports the normal function of your nerve cells and is needed for red blood cell formation and DNA synthesis.
Vitamin B12 may benefit your body in impressive ways, such as boosting your energy, improving your memory and weight loss, to name a few. Vitamin B12 deficiency can occur in one of two ways. Either your diet lacks adequate amounts of it or your body is unable to fully absorb it from the food you eat. A few risk factors that can increase your chance of developing a Vitamin B12 deficiency are:
Getting enough Vitamin B12 through your diet is crucial. However, if you struggle to obtain enough or have a condition that affects absorption, supplements are a simple way to increase your B12 intake. Vitamin B12 injection is an easy and quick way to get a boost! Kybella® is a formulation of a naturally occurring substance (deoxycholic acid) that targets and destroys fat cells in the area where it’s injected. Once those cells are destroyed, they can no longer store or accumulate fat, resulting in a contoured jawline. Kybella® leaves a smooth, contoured jawline, and re-treatment is not expected to be required.

What anti-aging and preventative treatments can you do for your skin? (Ages 25-30 years old)3/23/2020 I am a huge advocate on preventative treatments and starting early when possible, although it’s never too late to start your anti-aging regimen! Taking care of your skin at any age is vital to maintain a youthful appearance. Preventative treatments allow us to stay a step ahead of the aging process and also can improve the current state of the skin's appearance with repetitive sessions. These are the treatment options available for ages 25-30 years old that to help your skin to look vibrant and help with aging prevention.
Treatments for 25-30 years old
A combo of treatments and skincare is what helps to combat the aging process. Starting early and preventing the damage is key. Developing an anti-aging care plan helps you to take advantage of all your aesthetic options to keep your skin looking youthful! In 2010, Botox was FDA approved for chronic migraines and many patients are reporting success with treatment! Chronic migraines are defined by more then 15 headaches per month. These types of migraine patients are the best candidates for Botox injections. When Botox is used in small doses in specific areas, it temporarily reduces muscle contractions. Botox works for migraine headaches because it blocks chemicals called neurotransmitters, acting as a road block before the pain signals are carried from your brain to your head and neck.
Botox prevents migraine headaches before they start and each treatment lasts approximately 10-12 weeks. Patient results vary, but usually a 50% reduction in headache days per month are reported. If you experience headaches around the eyes, forehead, or between your eyebrows, you will also see the cosmetic benefit of wrinkle reduction from Botox injections, which lasts approximately 3-4 months. For patients who suffer from chronic migraines, the pain can be unbearable and debilitating. Botox can be a simple treatment and can give you a higher probability of living daily life without interruption! Overfilled “duck” lips, Botox “frozen” faces and exaggerated cosmetic procedures are trending their way out of mainstream injectables! Now that injections are becoming less taboo, patients are increasingly wanting little “tweaks” and minimal changes to their natural facial structure. Cosmetic procedures should never be obvious in my opinion. I have always taken an artistic, subtle approach to cosmetic injections. Respecting the natural facial contours keeps others guessing if you’ve had any treatments done. Taking care of your skin at any age is vital to maintain a youthful appearance. Seeking a provider with an artistic eye is the key to maintaining a naturally “tweaked” look!
Micro-treatments are quickly becoming popular with many patients opting in to Micro-Botox as a great alternative. Less is more! Receiving low dose Baby Botox treatments more frequently, will keep your face moving naturally from the start! Injectables are the largest trend in medical aesthetics right now and are easily accessible by everyone. Injectables, lasers, and skin resurfacing can be quick, lunchtime procedures with immediate results and limited downtime, and that’s what people want! Cosmetic treatments are now very sophisticated and more inclusive for men and women, with the social stigma decreasing. Brotox treatments are on the rise among men, one motivator being to stay competitive in today’s job market. Dermal fillers are being used in other areas of the face besides the traditional cheeks and nasolabial folds. Jawline, ear lobes, and hand rejuvenation are increasing in popularity. Full facial rejuvenation is always how I approach the face with Botox and Fillers being my paintbrushes on a blank canvas. Utilizing the full capabilities of the products we have access to is imperative in preventing aging, maintaining your look, and preserving the facial structure. Anti-aging treatments are starting at a younger age and patients are becoming more knowledgable about how to avoid surgical procedures in the future. Starting early maintains your skin and prevents the aging process from being severe, versus ignoring skin concerns until surgical intervention is needed. Social media has helped to demystify medical aesthetics. Long gone are the days of sneaking through the back door of a medical office to secretly receive treatments. Sharing on social media, little black books amongst friends and voicing your injectable experience to anyone who pays you a compliment, is becoming more common and less covert. I love fooling people’s eyes with micro-treatments by sprinkling Botox and micro-injecting dermal fillers around the face. Anyone with fine lines and wrinkles can be a candidate for Botox and Dermal Fillers when it’s artistically injected. During my injection process, I will complete half the face and show you in the mirror a split screen. Half the face done and the other half not. If I injected you while sleeping, you would wake up the next day, look in the mirror and say "Wow I look rested!", but you most likely couldn’t pinpoint what I've accomplished with injections. Facial contouring is on the rise! I’m ecstatic to contribute my passion to the of the art of injections and the mainstream movement! Happy 2019! As we start off the year with New Years resolutions, taking care of our skin is no exception! When it comes to committing to an anti-aging regimen it can simply be overwhelming without direction and guidance in developing a care plan that’s right for you. A plan can be the key to any success! I’m here to inform you of the Top 3 Anti-aging treatments that can make you look 10 years younger in minutes!
1.) Botox is the number one cosmetic treatment and can take years off your face! Botox is a simple treatment with no downtime that can help soften wrinkles and help your face look youthful! There are many medical uses for Botox beyond cosmetics, one of them being hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). Botox is not only able to soften wrinkles, but preserves, maintains and prevents wrinkles from becoming deeper! The increasing popularity of Botox injections amongst all ages is decreasing the taboo and putting off surgical procedures for longer periods of time. Botox lasts approximately 4-6 months. 2.) Dermal Fillers are beneficial to restoring the lost volume of the face that is due to a decrease in collagen and elastin production as we age. You can have dermal fillers in different parts of your face to look more youthful: around the eyes, cheeks, mouth, jawline, and lips. This improves deep set lines by making them look smoother. Adding volume to the face while respecting the natural facial contours, can improve your look immediately! Fillers last approximately 6-18 months. 3.) Skincare is a vital component of any anti-aging regimen. 3 key products in your skincare regimen should be a Retinol, a Vitamin C/Antioxidant serum and an eye cream. Retinol helps to increase new cell turnover by stimulating collagen production. Vitamin C/Antioxidant serums help to boost collagen production and reverse cell damage. Eye cream is imperative for the delicate skin around the eyes to combat aging. Botox and Dermal fillers are proven to be safe and effective, and treating Breast Cancer and Bell’s Palsy patients are no exception. These are just a few of the medical diagnoses that Botox is helpful with when it comes to aesthetics. Botox and dermal fillers are becoming mainstream and a more popular tool in treating patients with facial asymmetry and volume loss due to a medical diagnosis, to create facial balance. There can be physical, emotional and social changes which can impact a person’s daily lifestyle. Social interactions can be daunting especially around people who knew them when their appearance was considered normal. Botox and dermal fillers can be used to improve facial symmetry, easing the lifestyle changes that come with such a diagnosis.
A Breast Cancer patient can very well benefit from Botox and Dermal Filler injections while going through such a difficult time in their lives. Having these products available that are minimally invasive with minimal downtime if any, are safe, effective, and the perfect answer for someone who wants facial rejuvenation without having surgery. In fact, with the rapid weight loss, collagen depletion and aging which can occur with these types of patients, Botox and Dermal fillers would be a great solution to helping to improve the facial contouring and re-establish the youthful vectors. It can also help to boost the patients self esteem and confidence that they are putting their best face forward when going through such an experience. I am also a huge advocate of preventative treatments and starting early to stay a step ahead of the aging process, which starts after the age of 30 when collagen production slows down. We are all aging daily and collagen depletion is inevitable, but with Botox and dermal fillers we can preserve, maintain and prevent the aging process from being severe. Bell’s Palsy is the paralysis or severe weakness of the nerve that controls the facial muscles, usually on one side of the face. When it comes to Bell’s Palsy patients, Botox is a great treatment for restoring facial symmetry. The paralyzed side of the face can create distortion when the patient is making facial expressions. Relaxing the unaffected side of the face with Botox, where the muscles are strong, can help to create normal symmetry and appearance until the condition resolves, although both sides of the face are often treated to preserve facial balance. Doses can vary depending on the intensity of the muscles involved. Botox injections can help relieve the pain and suffering that comes with the symptoms of Bell’s Palsy, easing the patient through this difficult time. Botox can start giving relief within 24 hours with a maximum effect at 2 weeks, lasting approximately 3-6 months. Dermal fillers can also be used to help balance out facial volume loss, which can occur due to asymmetrical muscle movement over time. Botox and Dermal Fillers are great for anyone who is interested in aging gracefully and naturally, including Bell’s Palsy patients and Breast Cancer patients and survivors. What is Botox?
Botox® is a neuromodulator that causes muscles to relax and has been used for over 20 years in cosmetics treatments. Botox helps to improve the cosmetic appearance of facial lines and wrinkles. Botox also has medical uses to treat various symptoms and conditions, including migraines. If you’re considering Botox for cosmetic or medical purposes, you may be wondering what information is true and what’s false. Ready to bust the myths? Read on and lets separate fact from fiction! Myth #1: Botox is not safe Fact: Botox has been safely injected for years Botox is FDA approved for cosmetic treatments (since 2002) and certain medical conditions. Millions of people have used Botox safely and effectively for years. Botox treatments are safest in the hands of a qualified injector who follows all recommended protocols for dosing, storage, and administration of the drug. Always find an injector with experience, knowledge of anatomy and qualifications to ensure you have a safe and effective experience. Myth #2: Botox will give me a “frozen” look Fact: Botox relaxes muscles to help you look well-rested and bright, while maintaining facial expressions Botox relaxes strong muscles at the point of injection which softens wrinkles. A few injection points are around the crows feet, frown lines, and forehead wrinkles. Botox does not affect other muscles involved in overall facial expressions, therefore you will still be able to express yourself. The quality of your results depends on the skill of your injector. So do your research and find an experienced and qualified injector who approaches injections as an art! Botox is now becoming widely popular for its preventative benefits as well. If someone looks “frozen” or unnatural after injections, it may be due to incorrect dosing or technique. Botox must be injected carefully and skillfully to maintain the harmony of the muscles and the natural facial balance. Myth #3: Botox is Botulism Fact: Botox is NOT Botulism Botox is a purified protein, Botulinum toxin, derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, and is a product that has been approved as safe by the FDA. The product is administered in small doses and remains at the injection site, to reduce specific muscle activity by blocking the nerve impulses that trigger muscle contractions. Myth #4: Botox only treats facial wrinkles Fact: Botox has many medical uses Botox was initially used for medical conditions around the eyes. While treating these patients, the cosmetic benefits were discovered. A few medical uses for Botox include depression, strabismus, eyelid muscle spasms, chronic migraine, overactive bladder, excessive underarm sweating and sweaty palms. Botox is quickly becoming the drug that treats everything! Myth #5: Botox is painful Fact: Botox treatments are minimal to no pain Overall most patients report only mild discomfort during Botox injections. The needles are very small and thin with a tiny amount of liquid being injected into the muscle. This means the treatment is quick and you should only feel a slight prick, if anything, during an injection. The number of injections depends on the areas being treated and varies for each person. Most people tolerate Botox injections well, each injection only taking seconds to yield youthful, well rested, natural looking results lasting 4-6 months! Sign me up! Hand rejuvenation can be accomplished by taking advantage of a few key treatments. Dermal filler to replenish hand volume is the first key to youthful hands! Juvederm, Voluma, and Restylane are a few great filler options for hands lasting approximately 8 months-2 years. Adding filler will improve volume and hydration making the hands look more youthful and refreshed.
Recently Restylane Lyft was FDA approved for filling the hands making it the first FDA approved body filler, although hands have been getting filled "off label" for many years. It is safe, effective and immediate results are noticed. Numbing and icing the hands before help to decrease pain. Its a quick and easy procedure with little to no downtime noted. Bruising may happen as always when dealing with needles but preventative measures can be taken to help decrease the risk. Chemical Peels are very useful for improving the skin texture, decreasing the hyperpigmentation, and exfoliating dead skin cells. A combo of dermal fillers and a chemical peel for the hands is a great package for rejuvenation! Lastly, making sure to use a hydrating hand cream for anti-aging and a cream which helps to keep the brown spots faded.
